About Us

Matt and Kristi

As you may know we moved into a new home just before the holidays in 2006, so we have been in our new home just a short time. It feels like we have done a lot!  We installed a fence and steps on the deck just after we moved in. Then the second garage door opener, new hardware, entertainment system, and finally some paint. We started adding rooms to our basement mid- 2007 and have been enjoying a new fireplace in the basement while we work over winter. It is really feeling like our home. We especially enjoy all the windows in our home, you can see the whole neighborhood, a pond and a walking trail. Plus all the sunlight is so warm and inviting.

Matt is approaching his final year of Law School, and still working as a Senior Systems Engineer. There are a number of very large and important tests coming his way.  He is currently the VP of our Homeowners Association, serves as an officer on the board of the Twin Cities Marine Aquarium Society and enjoys spending time volunteering when possible (he's a very busy guy).

Kristi was awarded the Best Showman Award at the 2007 Alaskan Klee Kai Specialty, and was very flattered that her handling abilities were recognized! Kristi has just started volunteering with the Minnesota Children's Museum, and enjoys being able to give back to her community, and enjoying the children in small doses at a time. She's currently working as a Marketing Manager for a not-for-profit company that connects Minority and Women-Owned companies to Major Corporations. She also spends time each week practicing obedience and weight pulling for both Kona and Storm. With her free-time, she bakes- She makes the best Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Pan Rolls, and has a new culinary passion for making vegan dishes. The dogs and birds go nuts for Kristi's homemade goodies.

Kona (our older Alaskan Klee Kai) is a Certified Therapy Dog, and Matt and Kona visit elder care facilities and the hospital at least once a month. He has quite a few good stories one was about how a woman met Kona 4 times in the same hour.  At the 2007 Specialty, Kona took home a Best Altered Male and Best Altered of Breed award- His First time ever in the Conformation ring.

Storm, our younger pup, who we call tiny because of her small size as a puppy, is competing in conformation. At her first show at the end of 2006 she took a Best in Breed Novice Puppy and a second place ribbon. At the begining of 2007, she completed her titles as a Grand Champion and made it into the Best in Show ring for the second time taking home Reserve Best In Multi-Breed Show. We are so proud of our little girl.

Kona and Storm enjoy the fenced yard. They are continuously playing chase and running as fast as they can!  Storm dominates fetch when the Frisbee comes out!  She can get four at one time before Kona can get to one. Though I'm pretty sure Kona is simply being polite.

We have two birds, Mac and Ziggy, our lizard Jaws, and a few saltwater acquariums. Mac waves hi and blows kisses, and Ziggy has managed to beep like every appliance we own, including the coffee maker. It doesn't make a nice sound either.

We have been on some nice vacations, though it has been a while —the most recent was a trip to San Francisco (2006), where we picked up Storm and went to Sonoma Valley and Alcatraz. Before that we had a long layover in Madrid on our way to Egypt for a week. Both were beautiful places to visit, and we would definitely visit Egypt again somewhere down the road, to see the things we weren't able to in such a short time.
